Unwrapping the Chaos: Mastering the Art of Christmas Shopping

Unwrapping the Chaos: Mastering the Art of Christmas Shopping

Now that Halloween festivities have commenced, it is officially the Christmas season. I know that there are many people out there who don't start celebrating Christmas until after Thanksgiving. However, Starbucks began to serve their Christmas drinks on November 7th, and then the Christmas season started. Although I do love Thanksgiving, I love nothing more than giving gifts. One of my primary love languages is giving gifts to loved ones that they will genuinely love. As someone known in my family and friends as a great gift giver, I want to share my tips and tricks.

Starting off strong is creating a list of all your loved ones that you are shopping for this holiday season. Although it is already November, I start my list as early as the day after the previous Christmas. I know that may sound ridiculous, but hear me out. Throughout the year, you come across a store, advertisement, or conversation that makes you think of that person to whom you want to give a gift. Gifts aren't just about the amount of money you spend but about sentimental value. I don't know about you, but I sometimes need to remember ideas or find it hard to gift shop for someone. This is where the notes help tremendously so that when I am shopping for Christmas, I remember the perfect gift for someone I care about because I wrote it down last February.

Feeding off of the list is shopping at the right time. For those who think the list might be too in advance, there is a reason to write down your ideas throughout the year. That is because Black Friday is the best time to buy Christmas gifts. I am not suggesting that you go to a store and stake out that location to get the next iPhone, but instead, you can buy the perfect gift for your loved ones at a discounted price. I do all of my Christmas Shopping on Black Friday and Cyber Monday for the great deals and the guarantee that gifts will be delivered well before Christmas Eve.

Although I only provided two Christmas Shopping tips, they are crucial to making your loved ones feel even more loved on Christmas. I love nothing more than seeing people's reactions to time, thought, and care for presents that I give them. I hope you all consider the advice I provided so you can also enjoy that same feeling of gratitude.

  3. Alex, this was a very well written post on a topic that I really enjoyed. I may not be the best gift-giver, but I do love black friday Shopping. I used to go to the King of Prussia mall (the second largest mall in America) when I was younger to feast among the Black Friday deals!

  5. hi Alex, I also love Christmas shopping and I make a list as well. I love surprising people with gifts they don't expect. That is why I think having a list is so helpful especially on your phone because when someone has interest in something you can quickly write it down and then when it comes to actually shopping you will have so many options.

  7. Alex, you hit the nail on the head: gift giving is way less about the monetary value, but finding something uniquely meaning to that person or your relationship with them. I also like to do by Christmas shopping on Black Friday, with an idea of what I am looking for each person on my list.

  8. Alex, I totally agree with you about giving gifts. The best feeling in the world is the look on my dad or sister's face when they open up a gift and it's something that they really love. Though I don't start as far ahead as you do, I also put a lot of time into the gifts that I give!!
